"A total of 10,500 drug addicts were taken into custody in Afghanistan"

The deputy minister of counter-narcotics announced that at least 10,500 drug addicts have been apprehended and taken to rehabilitation centers in 32 provinces of Afghanistan as part of a long-term campaign. At least 5,000 drug addicts were rounded up in the Pul-e-Sokhta area in the west of Kabul, which is known for drug addiction and use. Officials from a 1000-bed rehabilitation center in Kabul have admitted at least 3,000 drug addicts so far. Many Kabul residents have praised the efforts of the Islamic Emirate to round up drug addicts and provide them with treatment. The Kabul Municipality is also considering changing the Pul-e-Sokhta area into a green area to improve the lives of residents. According to figures from the counter-narcotics ministry, there are at least three million drug addicts in Afghanistan.
