The President of South Korea has stated that the country may consider acquiring nuclear weapons.

South Korea's President, Yoon Suk-yeol, has stated that if tensions with North Korea continue to escalate, the country may consider deploying tactical nuclear weapons or acquiring its own nuclear weapons.

This statement comes after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un announced that his country would be developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile, in response to perceived efforts by the US and South Korea to isolate and stifle North Korea.

President Yoon emphasized that with South Korea's advanced technology, it would not take long for the country to acquire nuclear weapons if it decided to do so.
